Have you exclaimed, “When do I stop falling over learning to ride clipless pedals!?” OR-
“I keep falling over with clipless pedals, I might switch back to flats!” OR-
“Clipless pedals will make you fall over at first, but you'll soon get used to them.” OR-
“Flats are easy, but they gouge my legs if I slip, and I don’t feel connected!” OR-
“I feared falling over for weeks until it actually happened!”
This has all happened, to you, me, friends, and our biking family.
A grandson painfully acquired 15 stitches jamming the handlebar into his handsome face resulting from a tip-over with his foot still attached, while getting a drink!
My wife cracked her elbow on a brick wall while learning how to use clipless pedals.
An experienced daughter broke two ribs when a handlebar jammed right into her side after hitting a stump, flipped her over with her foot still attached to the pedal!
And me? Many encounters with shoe not unclipping both MTB and Roadie including launching my bike over a cliff with my foot still attached, falling over in intersections.
Cleat pullout failure from wear. Foot stuck or cannot get back in pedal from damage by rock encounter.
I was riding a friend’s bike with clipless, could not get my foot out, tipped over in front of cars. His comment? “Oh, they just need adjusting.” Crazy!
I WAS DONE WITH CLIPLESS PEDALS - FLATS TOO!
BUT WHERE TO GO?
Looking for a good pedal drove me to realize that all clipless pedals work the same way, by twisting your foot to release from the mechanical clips, springs, screws, and mechanisms binding you to a meeting with danger!
Twisting is counter-intuitive to the instinct to just roll or lift your foot off the pedal and put it on the ground. Finding nothing in my search, I began to think and have discussions with friends which led to investigating a Magnetic Pedal. The journey began, and the result is a game-changer! J-PEDALS were born! J-PEDALS are unique, robust, and SAFE!
My name is Reed Jentzsch
A hands-on engineer with several patents in the packaging industry and other areas.
Mechanical challenges intrigue me and solving them is a passion. I could not travel where others have tread. I wanted a simple yet durable and safe alternative.
J-PEDALS ARE NOT A SPIKEY FLAT PEDAL WITH MAGNETS ADDED, THAT CAN STILL SLIP, GOUGE AND SLICE!
NOR DO THEY CONTAIN MECHANISMS THAT WEAR, BREAK, AND BEND WHILE CARRYING YOU DOWN THE HAPPY TRAIL.
Patented J-Pedals consist of a pedal with a pocket which contains two super-magnets with a combined pull force of around 80 lbs. The pedal takes advantage of the channel in the MTB shoe and is replicated in the Roadie cleat system. They hold so well you can pedal uphill, one foot! And yet exit in a split second!
Roadie - The J-PEDAL pocket receives a specially designed metal cleat encompassed in a channeled cleat base held fast to your shoe creating a low-profile walkable system.
MTB – The cleat, is directly mounted in the shoe pocket.
J-PEDALS use patented channeled technology incorporated into the cleat, pedal, and base to keep the cleat in place time after time with no slipping. All parts fit together to form a strong and slip-less clipless system using no mechanical springs, clips, or other mechanical features that can wear or be damaged from striking a rock or other! The only adjustments necessary are fore and aft shoe positioning.
J-PEDALS have 7 degrees of float.
The main feature is the ability to engage and exit quickly and safely. To disengage, just roll your foot outward, a natural movement. You do not even have to think about it!
J-PEDALS have saved me and others from serious tip-overs and accidents due to their quick release feature, including being hit by car, MTB tight spots, chain breaks on hills, and many others. Been there, done that!
We’ve Had It with Clipless Pedals That Do Not Release and Flats That Gouge, Ouch!
Pedals Should Be Safe, Easy to Get Connected and Above All Lightening Fast to Exit!
